Protect the Nature of Australia

Australia has the worst animal extinction record of any nation on the planet, and invasive species like feral cats and foxes are the main culprits.

Our cherished natural wonders and unique wildlife are also under attack from new threats like fire ants and the plant-killing disease myrtle rust, and weeds are transforming landscapes from the coast to the outback.

That's why we're asking you to take our Protect the Nature of Australia Pledge and ask our political leaders to do the same.

Without major improvements in our efforts, another 17 threatened birds and mammals are likely to be lost from Australia in the next 20 years.

Will you take the pledge and help save these vulnerable native species from extinction?

Please, join us in taking the pledge and call on all major parties to do the same by committing to this six point plan that protects the nature of Australia from new and present invasive species:

1. Solve problems through research and innovation: $25 million over 5 years.
2. Strengthen environmental biosecurity institutions and capabilities.
3. Prevent new species invading Australia: $15 million over 5 years.
4. Nip invasive species in the bud: $30 million over 5 years.
5. Abate Australia’s worst invasive threats already here: $40 million over 5 years.
6. Protect islands from invaders: $5 million over 5 years.
